5,NetOp School phần mềm dạy học thực hành tin học, ngoại ngữ

TTO - Nếu ai đã sử dụng các phòng LAB máy tính dùng thiết bị mạng AVNET bạn sẽ thấy các tính năng tuyệt vời của việc dạy học thực hành tin học, ngoại ngữ. Có một phần mềm làm được hết các chức năng trên mà không phải mua nhiều thiết bị đó là NetOp School.

Phần mềm do hãng Danware viết. Bạn chỉ cần phòng máy tính nối mạng Windows 98, Windows 2000 hoặc Windows XP, máy chủ dùng Windows 2000 loại nào cũng được, tốc độ đường truyền của mạng 100 Mbps. Cuối cùng bạn chỉ cần cài đặt phần mềm NetOp School (bản dùng thử). So với giá thiết bị toàn bộ phòng Computer LAB dùng mạng AVNET thì bạn mua bạn quyền của phần mềm này còn rẻ hơn nhiều.

1. Cách cài đặt:

- Khởi động toàn bộ máy trạm và máy chủ, các máy trạm login vào User Administrator hoặc quyền tương đương. Mật khẩu của user này phải trùng với mật khẩu của user login vào máy chủ trong khi cài đặt phần mềm.

- Tại máy chủ chạy file Setup.exe cài đặt phần Teacher, khi hoàn thành cài đặt cho máy chủ, kế tiếp chương trình thông báo Netop Student Deloyment – Class selection bắt đầu phần cài đặt cho máy trạm.

Chúng ta khai báo các thông số như Workgroup của phòng máy (nên khai báo tất cả các máy trong phòng cùng một Workgroup), kết nối qua giao thức TCP/IP, hoặc IPX/SPX tùy chọn.

Chương trình sẽ tự đồng tìm ra các máy trạm và cài đặt phần Netop Student xuống máy trạm. Sau khi hoàn thành khởi động lại phòng máy và chạy chương trình Netop School trên máy chủ bạn sẽ thấy danh sách các máy trạm trong màn hình.

- Trường hợp máy chủ không nhận ra máy trạm trong danh sách, bạn có thể cài đặt phần Netop Student tại máy trạm. Các máy trạm phải có cùng một số License key.

2. Sử dụng:

- Chuyển màn hình máy chủ xuống máy trạm: Chọn toàn bộ các máy có trong danh sách, hoặc một số máy tùy ý. Bấm vào nút Give Demo, toàn bộ màn hình máy trạm sẽ nhìn thấy màn hình máy chủ.

Có hai lựa chọn cho chế độ này:

- Chỉ xem mà không sử dụng được.

- Có thể chuyển đổi giữa cửa sổ Demo của máy chủ và màn hình máy trạm.

- Điều khiển một máy trạm: chọn tên của máy trạm trong danh sách và bấm vào nút Remote Control, màn hình máy trạm sẽ hiện lên một cửa sổ trên máy chủ ở màn hình này có hai chế độ: 1 cho phép máy trạm thao tác; 2 không cho phép thao tác bằng cách khóa bàn phím và mouse. Có thể điều khiển nhiều máy trạm trên nhiều cửa sổ khác nhau của máy chủ.

- Xem màn hình toàn bộ phòng máy: bấm vào nút Mosaic View (xem toàn bộ màn hình với kích thước thu nhỏ). Nếu bấm vào nút Monitor Students thì 15 giây một màn hình máy trạm xuất hiện trên máy chủ (thời gian này có thể thay đổi được trong phần Options của chương trình).

3. Các tính năng khác:

- Run Program: Chạy các chương trình dưới máy trạm, chúng ta mô tả đường dẫn chính xác của file cần chạy ở máy trạm và bấm Run. Lập tức các máy trạm cùng chạy một chương trình.

- Distribute files: Chuyển file từ máy giáo viên xuống các máy trạm.

- Collect files: Thu file từ máy trạm về máy chủ. Ứng dụng chức năng này thu bài thi trên máy trạm rất nhanh.

- Execute Command: Có thể Shutdown, Reset, Logoff các máy trạm.

- Attention: Gởi một cảnh báo đến máy trạm.

- Chat: Chat với các máy trạm.

- Audio Chat: Dùng Micro nói trực tiếp xuống các máy trạm nghe qua head phone.

So với các phần mềm Capture màn hình khác, phần mềm này truyền màn hình không bị giật và tương đối nhẹ. Những phòng máy chưa có điều kiện trang bị Projector hoặc AVNET, chỉ cần bộ micro và head phone, mạng 100 Mpbs và cài đặt phần mềm này là có thể đáp ứng đủ nhu cầu dạy học thực hành.

nhưng hầu hết chúng chỉ gói gọn ở khả năng tải video, hay cùng lắm là có thêm công cụ chuyển đổi dạng video. Nay, với E.M. Cách tải video

Bạn dùng trình duyệt IE, Firefox hay Opera truy cập vào trang web chứa video cần tải (chẳng hạn Youtube). Sau đó, tại thẻ FLV Downloader của chương trình, bạn sẽ thấy file video đó đang được tải về. Cùng lúc đó, bạn có thể chọn xem một video clip khác để chương trình “bắt” link và tải file tiếp. Trên menu xuất hiện sau khi bạn bấm phải chuột vào file đang tải sẽ có những lệnh như: Open Storage Directory (mở thư mục lưu các file video đã tải), Play FLV (phát video khi tải xong), Rename (đổi tên file video), Stop and Save (ngừng tải và lưu phần file video hiện tại), Download again (tải lại video bị ngừng trước đó), Delete (xoá video khỏi danh sách tải), Clear all (xoá tất cả video khỏi danh sách), Copy URL to clipboard (chép địa chỉ video vào clipboard để tải bằng chương trình khác) và Send to (đưa video vào danh sách để chuyển đổi định dạng).

Sau khi tải xong, file video sẽ hiện ra ở khung cửa sổ phía dưới. Tại đây, bạn có thể kéo & thả chúng vào chủ đề thích hợp trong khung Downloaded để dễ quản lý.

Tìm video clip

Trong danh sách liệt kê các dịch vụ cung cấp video, bạn đánh dấu chọn những dịch vụ nào muốn tìm video. Tại hộp Key Words, bạn nhập vào từ khóa liên quan đến video muốn tìm rồi nhấn Enter (hay bấm vào biểu tượng cái kính lúp). Trong giây lát, các video tìm thấy sẽ được liệt kê theo những dịch vụ đã chọn và nằm trong từng thẻ ở cửa sổ kế bên. Sau đó, bạn có thể chọn và tải video theo cách như trên.

Chuyển đổi định dạng audio, video

Thông thường, các file video tải về sẽ có dạng *.FLV. Nếu muốn chuyển chúng sang dạng thức phổ biến khác, bạn chọn chức năng Convert FLV To Video; còn Convert Video To FLV thì có chức năng ngược lại.

Để chuyển đổi định dạng cho file video đã tải xong, bạn cần chọn mục Send to... file video như trong phần download để đưa nó vào danh sách chờ chuyển đổi, hoặc bấm nút New Task để chọn file video muốn chuyển đổi từ trong máy. Trước khi chuyển đổi, bạn có thể chọn lại nơi lưu các file đích trong hộp Converted Folder, đánh dấu chọn các file video cần chuyển (ở hộp tương ứng bên trái), chọn dạng file xuất ra bằng nút Change Format và nút kế bên, thay đổi thiết lập cho định dạng đã chọn bằng nút Format Setting. Xong, bạn bấm nút Convert Now để tiến hành chuyển đổi.

Sửa lỗi video

Có một số video “bất ngờ” không thể xem được sau khi bạn miệt mài tải về. Thay vì bỏ thời gian tải lại, bạn hãy dùng chức năng Repair FLV của ET để sửa lỗi cho chúng. Bạn bấm nút Add File để chọn các file cần sửa, sau đó đánh dấu chọn chúng rồi bấm nút Repair.

Ghi video ra CD/DVD

Để ghi video ra CD/DVD, bạn chọn mục Help ở phía trên phải cửa sổ chương trình và chọn tiếp mục CD/VCD/DVD Burner (hay chạy thông qua biểu tượng trên desktop), chọn loại cần ghi, xác định ổ đĩa ghi và các thông số khác nếu cần, rồi ra lệnh ghi là xong.

Giao diện

Thay đổi đầu tiên dễ nhận thấy nhất trong phiên bản thử nghiệm YM9 mới chính là màu sắc. Màu sắc giao diện ứng dụng (skin) không chỉ còn được ứng dụng cho mỗi thanh tựa đề cửa sổ YM9 (Title bar) mà còn cho toàn bộ cửa sổ ứng dụng một cách rõ rệt hơn. Cụ thể, đó là những tính năng hiển thị danh sách Yahoo ID dạng thu gọn (Compact List) hoặc đầy đủ (Detailed List), cho phép hiện thị sổ liên lạc (Show Address Book Contacts) và hiển thị Yahoo ID ở trạng thái offline (Show offline contacts). Ở phiên bản trước đây, người dùng truy cập vào “Preferences” mới có thể thay đổi được những thiết lập này. Rõ ràng sự bổ sung này đã mang lại cho người dùng sự tiện lợi tối đa.

Tiếp theo là về cách hiển thị hình đại diện (avatar) và thiết lập thông điệp trạng thái (status). Hình đại diện được chuyển từ vị trí bên tay phải sang tay trái. Di chuột lên avatar sẽ hiển thị rõ lớp khung mang màu sắc như thanh tựa đề ứng dụng cùng với mũi tên biểu thị menu ngữ cảnh, cho phép truy cập nhanh những tính năng như sửa đổi hình đại diện (Display image), thay đổi thông tin cá nhân (Contact Details) và thông tin tài khoản.

Về tính năng thiết lập Status, để có thể truy cập những thiết lập Status như trước đây - Available, Busy hoặc Invisible to Everyone - người dùng phải nhắp chuột trực tiếp vào Yahoo ID của mình ngay bên cạnh hình đại diện. Một số lựa chọn Status như “Stepped out, Be right back, Not at My Desk và On the phone” đã bị loại bỏ trong phiên bản mới. Việc loại bỏ những tính năng này là phù hợp với thiết lập trong phiên bản mới. Trạng thái của người dùng đều được biểu thị bằng dấu chấm - màu vàng cho “Available”, màu đỏ cho “Busy” và màu xám cho “Invisible to Everyone” - chứ không bằng dấu chấm màu và ký tự như trước đây.

Để hiển thị Status tùy biến cá nhân, trong phiên bản YM9 mới, người dùng có thể nhập ngay trực tiếp vào ô hiển thị ngay bên dưới Yahoo ID của mình. Nếu có nhiều Status cá nhân thiết lập trước đây, người dùng có thể dùng phím mũi tên ở cuối ô hiển thị để chọn lựa thay vì phải nhập vào ô cửa sổ bung ra.

Khi nhắp chuột vào ô hiển thị Status cá nhân, ứng dụng sẽ hiển thị luôn một ô cho phép người dùng nhập liên kết web để bổ sung thêm vào Status, không còn phải “vất vả” nhập vào hộp thoại Status cá nhân như trước đây nữa.

Nếu hình đại diện trong phiên bản trước đây được hiển thị bên tay phải, nay trong phiên bản đã được chuyển sang bên trái. Kiểu thiết kế này giống với thiết kế của phiên bản thử nghiệm Yahoo Messenger dành cho Windows Vista.

Giao diện cửa sổ “chat” thay đổi duy nhất là các biểu tượng mặt cười được hiển thị theo phong cách mới. Tuy nhiên, kiểu hiển thị này không được đánh giá cao bởi nó … “xấu” hơn kiểu hiển thị ở phiên bản cũ rất nhiều.

Tính năng

Về mặt tính năng, đáng chú ý nhất là việc Yahoo “tái” tích hợp trở lại tính năng chơi game trực tuyến với bạn bè. Người dùng có thể mời bạn bè chơi game trực tiếp từ cửa sổ chat bằng cách nhắp chuột vào Activities và chọn một game ưa thích, rồi nhắp nút bấm Start để cùng bạn bè mình chơi game.

Sự thay đổi thứ hai về mặt tính năng là Yahoo đã cho phép người dùng quản lý và chia sẻ thông tin cập nhật về chính bản thân mình (Manage My Updates). Để sử dụng tính năng này, có thể nhắp chuột vào hình đại diện của mình và chọn “Manage My Upates” hoặc từ menu “Messenger | Manage Updates I Broadcast…”

“My Updates” được Yahoo định nghĩa là “những câu chuyện nhỏ về hoạt động trực tuyến” của người dùng như hình ảnh mới tải lên mạng, bài viết blog … Nếu người dùng không chọn chia sẻ thì những thông tin này sẽ không được hiển thị. Còn nếu chọn lựa cho phép chia sẻ, những thông tin này sẽ được bổ sung trực tiếp vào menu ngữ cảnh cung cấp thông tin về bạn khi người khác nhắp chuột vào Yahoo ID của bạn trên danh sách bạn bè. Thay vì phải cài đặt thêm plug-ins Yahoo 360 Blog, giờ đây người dùng có thể đọc blog của bạn bè trực tiếp từ menu ngữ cảnh này.

Tuy nhiên, sau quá trình thử nghiệm, TTO khuyến cáo người dùng YM9 phiên bản mới không nên chấp nhận chia sẻ Yahoo 360 Blog bởi phiên bản thử nghiệm này có thể “móc” ra cả những “entry” đã được người dùng giấu kín trong trang blog được thiết lập ở chế độ “Private”.

Một tính năng mới khác trong YM9 phiên bản mới giúp khẳng định rõ hơn nữa mối liên hệ chặt chẽ giữa phiên bản thử nghiệm mới Yahoo Messenger và Yahoo 360. Cụ thể YM9 phiên bản mới còn cho phép hiển thị cả câu Blast từ trang blog cá nhân nếu như người chủ blog đó mới thay câu nói này.

Yahoo lần này cũng thực hiện một chút thay đổi trong tính năng chia sẻ ảnh (Share Photo) trực tiếp từ cửa sổ chat với bạn bè, cho phép người dùng chia sẻ trực tiếp những hình ảnh đã được tải lên website chia sẻ ảnh số trực tuyến Flickr của Yahoo.

Các tính năng khác như hỗ trợ tốt hơn tiếng Việt, xem video trực tuyến trực tiếp từ cửa sổ chat khi người dùng dán vào một liên kết đến video clip từ dịch vụ chia sẻ video như YouTube, Yahoo Video hay xem bản đồ trực tuyến trực tiếp từ cửa sổ chat … đều đã được hoàn thiện hơn trong phiên bản mới.

I normally recommend the Norton Anti-virus suite but I'm fully aware that some folks simply can't afford to buy it. If you fall into this category then you should check out AVG Antivirus 6.0 Free Edition. This product has been continuously refined since it was first released in 1991 and now offers very impressive protection capabilities. Additionally, it's relatively small, light on resources, has regular automatic updates and handles email scanning. There is a free and a pro version, the only difference being that the free version has a few non-critical features disabled and has no technical support. Even so, it's an impressive package and a offers the financially challenged a real alternative to the major anti-virus suites. These days all users face a real risk of malicious programs secretly installing themselves on your computer. Internet Explorer is a great browser but it has become such a target for malicious exploit that it now has become a security risk. There are several excellent alternatives but my top pick goes to Mozilla FireFox. It's faster and leaner than Internet Explorer and since the release of version 1PR, it's stable and reliable. This is cute. TinyResMeter is an itsy-bitsy system monitor. Unlike many other monitors, it doesn't consume a lot of CPU utilization in order to tell you your CPU utilization. In addition to CPU usage, you can optionally monitor cache, RAM, page file and swap file usage, running processes and threads, disk space utilization and a number of other parameters as well.

Best Free Spam Filter for the Average User Updated
Mailwasher is for most folk, the easiest way of dealing with Spam. It's a free email preview utility that allows you to check your email on your mail server before you download it to your PC. The advantage of this approach is that you can kill unwanted messages including spam, viruses and large attachments before they get anywhere near your computer. Mailwasher automatically flags for you any messages containing viruses and possible spam which makes for quick and easy identification. It also will send a message back to the spam mail sender saying that their message could not be delivered. Hopefully this will encourage some spammers to take your name off their mailing list. The free version only handles only one POP email account but that's sufficient for most users. If you need multiple account try XTerminator which provides many of the same features of Mailwasher though with a less elegant interface.

When it comes to effectiveness, POPFile beats the pants off most other spam filters I've tried. But this effectiveness takes a little time to develop. POPFile is a statistical filter so it has to be trained to recognize your spam from your normal mail. It takes a week or so before it starts becoming accurate and best results may take a month or more. POPFile works as a proxy mail server so that means that it can be used with any POP email client. Setup is reasonably straightforward for experienced users but beginners should stick with Mailwasher. Outlook users should check out SpamBayes, another open source statistical filter that offers an Outlook plug-in that makes it more more convenient to use.

There's a scumware plague at the moment. I've been a long time user of Funduc Software's excellent Search and Replace utility, now in version 4. I'm not a great fan of outliners - my brain doesn't work that way. Some folks however, swear by them and if that includes you, then you should check out Keynote, an Open Source freeware program that has a dedicated band of followers. Its major design attribute is its ease of use. Words like "natural" and "seamless" come close to the mark but really don't capture the essence of what is really a great design. I used to recommend WinDriversBackup for this task but it has now, unfortunately, morphed into shareware. However, I can suggest you try WinRet as a replacement. It will not only back up your drivers but also your system registry, program settings and preferences, shortcuts, Favorites, Outlook Express folders, accounts and message filters as well. As a bonus, it allows you to tweak some of your system settings. I didn't try the latter but can report that the driver backup and restore worked well. Irfanview is a free multimedia viewer and editor that supports a huge range of file formats. Each new version seems to add more capabilities but to me, its most powerful features are its speed and its batch processing capability. As well as my normal POP email account, I have multiple Yahoo webmail accounts. Managing the latter used to be easy until Yahoo started charging to forward webmail to my POP account. Photoshop Replacement for Nix Updated
Oriens Enhancer is a graphics processing program similar in function to Photoshop and Paintshop. The big difference is that it's free, the others cost big bucks. But don't think free means limited. On the contrary this product can read more than 40 file formats, has filters, textures and color effects to burn and can even handle layers. On my XP PC it was both fast and reliable though I have known folks with other PC configurations that have had stability problems. Hides Personal Files from the Boss
Camouflage is a free utility that will hide your personal or confidential files within another file. The neat thing is that the container file looks and works like a normal file of that format. So, by way of example, you could embed a secret message in a Word file which could be opened by anyone and appear to be just a normal Word file. The intended recipient could use their
copy of Camouflage to open the file, enter the password and extract the embedded information. This free program is not intended to provide military strength protection but rather a convenient way to sneak information past unnecessarily prying eyes. Protect Your Defenses

Process Guard is a unique program that prevents this from happening by protecting each individual defensive program. Process Guard itself cannot be pulled down because it runs as a kernel level service not a normal application.
